Upgrading the campus and facilities for a world-leading lens manufacturer and pharmaceuticals company.

Bausch + Lomb Campus

Bausch+ Lomb is a world leader in eye health, manufacturing contact lenses and pharmaceuticals at its Waterford site. The Bausch + Lomb Ireland Campus extends over 55,000 sq. m where 1,400+ staff produce market-leading contact lenses. Diarmuid Reil Architects has been engaged, as architects, design team leaders and project managers, in a range of capacity expansion and campus improvement projects over the last four years.

Waterford, Ireland

Project briefs at Bausch + Lomb are demanding – where the functional requirements of the MedTech sector must be met in combination with a satisfactory architectural execution. Further, the projects must be delivered whilst working on a ‘live’, high-volume medical device site. The DRA approach has been to engage with the broader design team and stakeholders on the campus, develop detailed briefs and invest heavily in project planning. A sample of the projects delivered at Bausch + Lomb is listed:

- Southern Entrance and Visitor Car Park Refurbishment

- R&D Laboratory

- Conference Rooms Upgrade

- Capacity Expansion Area 9

- Warehouse Expansion Area 8

- Chemistry Laboratory Refurbishment

- Canteen Refurbishment Area 4
